When you know the loads , you can design the duct sizes and also the size of the furnace. Many homes have furnaces sized too big. If your air conditioner is also sized too large it will short cycle shorting the life of the unit and not getting the rid of the moisture of the coil before shutting down. The right sized furnace can save one the cost of the unit, electric bills and duct work, and provide a more comfortable movement of air.
